Safety Hazard Related to the Handlebar Stem

Bike Friday has just issued a recall for all models of its Tikit folding bike. The issue is related to the handlebar stem, which apparently isn’t strong enough and can break, causing the rider to lose control and, well, fall on on their face. So far the company has received “six reports of breaking handlebar stems, resulting in two reports of injuries including scrapes, bruises and a head laceration that required stitches”. Ouch.
