If the organization doesn’t change its name, I’m going to sue the bastards for false advertising.

In a historic change, the Boy Scouts are announcing plans to admit girls into the Cub Scouts starting next year and to establish a new program for older girls using the same curriculum as the Boy Scouts.

Under the plan announced Wednesday, Cub Scout dens — the smallest unit — will be single-gender, either all-boys or all-girls. The larger Cub Scout packs will have the option to welcome both genders if they choose.

The program for older girls is expected to start in 2019 and will enable girls to earn the coveted rank of Eagle Scout.

The greater issue here is the progressive-liberal assault on traditional gender roles. While I’m open to discussing the specifics of these roles, I think it’s quite clear that men and women are biologically different. Gender roles should thus reflect these differences for the benefit of the collective. Would a society in which women fought the wars while men tended to babies have succeeded in the past? Could it succeed now? Of course not.

And it’s not as if there isn’t already a female equivalent to the Boy Scouts. Interestingly the Girl Scouts organization hasn’t taken this news too well, as it will now have to compete for members. This is a bit tragic, given that the two organizations have maintained amicable relations for many years. My guess is that the Girl Scouts will eventually allow boys into their organization in order to stay afloat.

If this is social progress, count me out.
