Burnt body identified as Drysdale man


THE body found burnt and bound in Corio parkland has been identified as 49-year-old Drysdale man Russell Hammond.

Homicide Squad detectives said Mr Hammond, a quiet single man, died before he was burned.

His body was found burned and gagged between two dirt mounds at a makeshift motocross track on Broderick Rd, Corio, on Friday.

It can also be revealed police found a burnt-out Mercedes Benz, which belonged to Mr Hammond, after witnesses reported a burning vehicle on Portarlington Rd, Leopold on Friday.
