British Prime Minister David Cameron has expressed hope that a nuclear deal with Iran would be eventually reached.
“I very much hope the deal will be achieved,” Cameron told Press TV as he was answering questions at a news conference in the Australian city of Brisbane.
“I think these talks are absolutely vital. I think Iran faces a very clear choice to have that sort of agreement that can then progressively lead to Iran having a more normal relationship with the rest of the world.”
Cameron also said London has already started the process to rebuild relations with Tehran. He said that he was the first British prime minister to meet an Iranian president in decades – a reference to a meeting between the two on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York in September.
“I think actually the key to this relationship [with Iran] will be achieving a deal,” Cameron told the news conference that was held on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.
Iran and the so-called P5+1 group of countries have a deadline of November 24 to reach a final comprehensive deal over the Iranian nuclear energy program.
