David Ginola hospitalised after ski accident

“David Ginola was with a few other people who alerted the rescue team and
he was taken off the mountain in a blood wagon, or paramedic sledge.

“He was then taken to hospital in Sallanches and was discharged this
morning.

“The exact circumstances of the accident are not yet known. The
conditions were perfect. It was very sunny and the snow was very good but
also very cold.” Mr Ginola was allowed back to his hotel room, but was
forced to cancel future engagements.

These included an appearance at the high-profile “snow golf”
tournament at nearby Megeve, where he was due to be one of the major
celebrities taking part this week.

The organisers said his absence was a “huge disappointment”.

Mr Ginola, who retired from football in 2002, also played for Aston Villa and
Everton.

TV viewers in Britain also remember him for his “Because You’re Worth It”
L’Oreal shampoo commercials.

Besides football, his private life hit the newspapers after he was sued for
maintenance in 2010 by Joelle Pinquier, a woman who said he fathered her
daughter, Joy.

Although he refused to take a paternity test, Mr Ginola agreed in 2008 to pay
£400 a month maintenance until Joy was 18.

He now lives in St Tropez, on the French Riviera, with his wife, Coraline, a
former model, and their two children, Andrea and Carla.
