Peter Nolan When the Daytime Emmy Awards were handed out this weekend, no one was more excited and surprised to hear her name called than Outstanding Younger Actress in a Daytime Drama Winner Kristen Alderson.

Alderson took home the coveted gold trophy for playing Starr Manning on “General Hospital,” a role she originated on “One Life To Live. Earlier this year, the “General Hospital” writers and producers were forced to retire the character of Starr from Port Charles, along with Todd Manning (played by Roger Howarth) and John McBain (played by Michael Easton) due to a legal dispute between ABC and Prospect Park who produces the re-launched “One Life To Live where the characters originated.” Although the actress is no longer playing Starr, the character will always be in her heart. The young actress grew up in the role, having played Starr as a child and intends to nick-name her Emmy “Starr” as a tribute to the role that has made her a household name among soap opera fans.
At just 22 years old, the actress is already a daytime television veteran. She played Starr Manning for 15 years, beginning the role at the age of six. Now the actress is taking on the challenge of a new character on “General Hospital;” Kiki Frank, the estranged daughter of Franco (played by Roger Howarth). The new roles have Howarth and Alderson are once again playing father and daughter. Howarth played Starr’s Dad, Todd Manning, on both “One Life To Live” and General Hospital.”
Daytime TV Examiner was on hand when Alderson met with reporters back stage on Emmy night to celebrate her win and we asked her with she’d seen the new “One Life To Live” and what her thoughts were on the show. Check out the video on this page to hear what she had to say.
