A military charter plane has been grounded after making a heavy landing in Darwin.
The aircraft was due to fly 115 Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel to the Middle East and return with another group of 61.
But the ADF on Saturday said the plane had made a heavy landing “caused by weather and wind effect” earlier this week.
No one was hurt in the incident.
A replacement aircraft was flown from the United Kingdom to the United Arab Emirates to pick up the ADF members waiting for their ride home.
“Any delay in getting our people home is regrettable,” the ADF said in a statement.
“The replacement aircraft landed in Perth early this morning and all the passengers are returning to home locations via domestic commercial air.”
The plane involved in the incident is being held in Darwin for a technical assessment by the operator.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau will conduct an investigation into the incident.
