ComicBookMovie.com posted two pieces of “Thor: The Dark World” footage prior to the official release of the teaser. The ComicBookMovie.com post includes both pieces of footage.
The first snippet shows footage from E!News.
Description of E!News footage:
The footage begins with flashes of Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Thor says: “I gave you my word – I would return.” The footage then cuts to shattered windows and a frightened Darcy (Kat Dennings) and shows just a second of Thor and Jane’s reunion.
Following this, we see Jane wearing a breastplate, suspended in the air by villain Malekith (Christopher Eccleston), then Thor helping Jane over some difficult terrain. The narrator implies that Thor will have to make “the ultimate sacrifice.”
We then see Jane on Earth, amid an emergency crew, next to Thor. She says, “wait, what?” and then they pull close as the Bifrost opens and transports them elsewhere. We see a ship of some sort destroying buildings, and then a scene with Thor and Odin (Anthony Hopkins). Thor says to him: “If we do nothing, they will destroy us.”
It ends with a battle scene and cuts back to Jane, still suspended in the air by Malekith. We then see Thor approach Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who says, “You must be truly desperate to come to me for help.” It ends with Thor saying, “I want you to know that if you betray me, I will kill you,” to which Loki replies, “When do we start?” You can see the unofficial YouTube video here.
The omg!Insider footage reveals:
The omg!Insider footage shows much of what you see in the E!News segment. It includes some shots of Sif (Jaimie Alexander) in battle, with a possible look of regret as well. There are some shots from the first “Thor” movie thrown in, including the scene in which Jane first sees Thor and some scenes in Asgard between Thor and Odin.
This footage also outlines four objectives on the screen:
- Challenge #1: Reunite with love
- Challenge #2: Save from dark elf
- Challenge #3: Overcome goddess’ advances
- Challenge #4: Disapproving dad
- Challenge #5: Enlist bad boy half-brother

Fan analysis:
This footage confirms what was revealed in earlier interviews: Jane travels with Thor to Asgard and possibly other realms, and Thor must enlist Loki’s help to defeat or bargain with Malekith. There were no points of humor in these snippets, however, and although Thor and Jane were not specifically in a relationship and neither had declared love in the first movie, the events that transpire seem pretty serious. Sif is evidently in the mix, and Thor apparently feels torn between many loyalties.
