The Ahrar Center for Detainees Studies and Human Rights reported that the Israeli Prison Administration is denying the Palestinian political prisoners access to books and educational materials.

The Center said that the detainees had access to prison libraries that contained a large variety of books and educational materials, but some of these books were burnt during numerous clashes between the detainees and Israeli soldiers.

Fuad Al-Khoffash, former political prisoner and the head of the Ahrar Center, stated that, seven years ago, Israel started denying the entry of books and educational material to its prisons where Palestinians are held.

Al-Khoffash added that such violations against the detainees are now facing more restrictions regarding access to books and educational materials, and added that what Israel is doing is a form of “war” targeting the detainees’ right to education.

He further stated that the detainees have no other outlet for knowledge and education rather than the books they have the right to obtain and have access to.
