AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — The solar energy product maker Energy Conversion Devices Inc. says it’s extending the deadline for the company’s auction of its solar panel unit from Tuesday until May 8.
The Auburn Hills, Mich.-based company announced Feb. 14 that it was seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
At the time, Energy Conversion Devices said it was putting its solar panel unit up for sale as well. United Solar Ovonic is separately filing for bankruptcy relief and makes thin-film solar products for commercial rooftops.
Energy Conversion Devices says that United Solar‘s “current capital structure and legacy costs” have kept it from making necessary investments.
Energy Conversion Devices announced the extension of the United Solar Ovonic sales deadline in a statement Monday.
