ABOUT 50 people have been evacuated from a unit complex in central Sydney after a fire broke out in a photography studio.
Just before 7pm (AEST) on Wednesday, 30 firefighters were called to the two-level commercial and residential complex in Surry Hills, NSW Fire and Rescue Superintendent Tom Cooper told AAP.
About 50 people were evacuated from adjoining yoga and dance schools.
No one was injured, Supt Cooper said.
A photography studio on the top floor was totally destroyed by the fire but other units in the complex and surrounding buildings weren’t badly damaged.
The cause of the fire isn’t yet known and it’s not being treated as suspicious.
