Toronto Mayor Rob Ford said he is “getting punished” for his “Friday or Saturday night fun” that most everyone has in moderation.
TORONTO (INTELLIHUB) — For a mayor that has changed Toronto in many good ways, the vultures are sure out to shut him down, stripping him of even more mayoral powers over a few “isolated instances”, said Ford in a sit-down interview Tuesday.
Despite Ford’s impeccable honesty, attendance record and his “come to Jesus moment”, the city council was set out to strip Ford of anything they could Tuesday, in what the mayors brother refereed to as a “kangaroo court”.
Some like CNN’s Piers Morgan, have stated how they are “torn” with this mayor and are not sure which way to go. Morgan stated on air that he would trade his mayor in England for Ford any day.
Ford has admitted to drinking and doing drugs on his personal time while being mayor. ”I am not a drug addict. I am not an alcoholic. I have shown up to work everyday in the last 13-years, straight as an arrow. I return everyone’s calls […] I’m human I made a mistake”, Mayor Rob Ford stated in an on camera interview.
While the Mayors brother admits Rob does often have “one too many” drinks, he also stated in the interview that people don’t “personally” know Rob.
Ford is disgusted that he was striped of 75 percent of his powers in what he calls a “dictatorial” push. “This is not a democracy”, Ford stated.
Ford has been known for saving tax payers money. In the interview Ford stated a few of the things he has accomplished while he has been mayor of Toronto, “getting rid of the $60 CAR tax, privatizing garbage, having the lowest tax increase in any city in North America, watching every dime, getting union deals done, building subways” were ignored by the media and never even mentioned.
CNN reported, “Despite the controversy, Ford is clinging to office, confounding critics and delighting supporters who say he’s done plenty of good for the city — despite headlines around the world that have splashed a bit of mud on the image of the gleaming lakeside city that’s arguably the cultural center of English-speaking Canada.
“He’s human. We all make mistakes,” one resident told Canadian broadcaster CBC Toronto.
“If he smokes and saves me money, I’ll vote for him — even if he’s a bum,” said another.”[1]
