Thousands of Americans took part in Sunday’s peaceful rally to show their anger at the war-mongering policies of the Western military alliance.
Chicago police arrested scores of anti-war activists to quell the protests. Dozens of people were injured during police clashes with demonstrators.
“They wanted the trouble… I don’t mess with the cops. I tried to be respectful. They are looking for it [trouble],” one of the protesters told Press TV.
“There has not been any violence on the part of the protesters. So I don’t understand why if somebody’s sitting or standing they have to be hit by clubs, there is really no reason for that,” another demonstrator argued.
More than a third of the Chicago police force has been assigned for the protests. They have been supplemented by thousands of cops from the state police and other law enforcement agencies from other states under the supervision of the FBI.
Anti-NATO demonstrators demanded an end to destructive wars. The two-day NATO summit will be wrapped up on Monday.
