Geneva Citizens Join Bahrainis in Protest outside UN

Alwefaq.net reported Protesters chanted “free free Bahrain”, “stop the killing in Bahrain” and “end torture in Bahrain”, at the iconic ‘broken chair’.

Amongst those present were resigned MP’s, human rights lawyers and activists, as well as Sayed Majeed Al Misha’al, the President of Bahrain’s Islamic Council of Scholars. But the majority of those taking part were local members of the community from a range of backgrounds.

Sayed Hadi Almusawi, a resigned MP from Al Wefaq National Islamic Society, said, “We are delighted to see so many from the local community join our protest calling for human rights and democracy in Bahrain.”

Sheikh Maytham Al Salman, Head of Religious Freedom Unit at the Bahrain Human Rights Observatory, addressed the protesters thanking them for their support and informing of how grateful the people of Bahrain are for their solidarity.

The protest took place at the end of the first week of the 26th session of the UN Human Rights Council, with more Bahrain events planned over the coming days.
