Orthodox Jews in Israel have called for the creation of an independent ultra-Orthodox Jewish state inside the borders of Israel, because the hate from the left is just spiraling out of control, according to press reports in Israel.
The new proposal was announced today in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish newspaper, Hamodia.
In an article published on Wednesday, the newspaper attacked religious Zionists for forming an alliance with the Yesh Atid party of Yair Lapid instead of ultra-Orthodox Jewish parties and presented major ideological differences between haredi-religious communities and religious-Zionist.
“We will create a Jewish autonomy in the land of Israel,” the paper said.
“Autonomy means administrative independence of internal affairs, without the status of a sovereign state, with legislative and economic policy independence, and no military or foreign policy,” it said.
According to the paper, the plan has a real chance of success. “We can establish Bnei Brak, Elad and Modi’in Illit as our own state,” the paper wrote.
The article suggests that economic independence would benefit the haredi community, as it would allow a system in which workers are not limited by the lack of recognition of their education or the lack of modesty in the workplace. Moreover, he argued, ultra-Orthodox Jews will not spend money for sports, modern culture, prisons or treatment centers for drug addiction.
“Torah scholars will be respected members of society and will receive special financial support, and we will ensure affordable housing for all,” it added.
“The chance of the survival of such a state is virtually zero as no one will seek to work, there will by no form of police or military to protect citizens. The idea is just laughable,” Larry Tessler, 49, an expert on government affairs in Long Island, New York told YourJewishNews.com after reading about the plan.
