At 19-10, Bovada.com and Las Vegas sports books have installed the heat as the favorites to win their third NBA title in a row. With LeBron James utterly destroying all competitors last year, and Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh presumably healthier than they were last year, it’s an easy pick to install them as the heavy favorites for next season.
They are followed by the Oklahoma City Thunder, installed far behind the Heat at 6-1 odds with the expectation that Russell Westbrook will return to the form he had before he tore his ACL.
Rounding out the top eight are Brooklyn, Chicago, and Houston (all at 10-1), Indiana, San Antonio, and the L. A. Clippers (all at 12-1).
Fourteen of the NBA’s 30 teams are posted with odds of 100-1 or greater to win it all – a heck of a futures bet, but unlikely to pay off in the current NBA landscape.
The NBA season will begin October 30, 2013.
