Auto enthusiasts say they will stop at nothing to complete the 1000 mile road trip, organized to promote business, tourism and charity.
Detroit, MI (PRWEB) April 21, 2012
It started off as an annual Woodward Dream Cruise party and has grown into a statewide event that travels over 1000 miles of Michigan every year in August. When interviewed recently, Randy Kohler, the founder of the Michigan Gumball Rally said “Anyone can sign up for this fun road-trip especially if you’re a fan of Michigan or a fan of the automobiles we build.” When asked about gas prices Randy replied “Nothing will stop this dedicated group from completing the trip we organized to promote Michigan’s business, tourism and charity.”
The Michigan Gumball Rally was started in 2010 when entrepreneur (Randy Kohler) noticed an opportunity. Almost every company in America is underutilizing sponsorships to help generate social media content. Behind the fun events is a driven force of advertising that many people do not notice. The Michigan Gumball Rally claims it can generate hundreds of millions of impressions per year through outdoor vehicle advertising, social media strategy and event planning.
Randy, 28, first came up with the idea during a road trip and decided to bring the idea to reality after Nelson House, the original founder of The Woodward Dream Cruise died of cancer in 2010. “Someone needed to step up to the plate and lead by example. I set out to organize fun, positive events that anyone can participate in. The Woodward Dream Cruise is the largest one day auto event in the whole world with an annual attendance of over two million people, and it started as a fundraiser to earn money for a children’s charity.”
Randy finished the interview by saying “Nelson House is a great example of how one person can change the world for the better, I intend to continue that legacy so that someday people will remember me as well. I’m hoping this interview will inspire more people to join us.”
Plans for the 2nd annual Michigan Gumball Rally this August 10th, 11th, 12th include a 1200 mile road-trip, one weekend before the Woodward Dream Cruise 2012. One hundred vehicles or more will travel the mitten state from Detroit to Sault St Marie and back to The Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn, MI. The participants will be stopping at Michigan landmarks and race tracks to complete “checkpoint cards” that are quick and easy. Speeding on public roads is discouraged and will not help you win.
Each team that signs up for the main event in August will get merchandise, special prizes and a participation plaque. One lucky team will win the grand prize of $15,000.
Any vehicle can enter including sports cars, classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, and rental cars.
