Iran’s two military policies

For the first time, the Hassan Rohani government has decided to dispatch a destroyer and a helicopter carrier towards the U.S. maritime border.

This display is in response to the deployment of the U.S. fleet offshore the Iranian coast.

However, the Iranian response is pure media posturing. The most important thing lies elsewhere: at the same time, President Rohani slashed the budget allocation for the annual missile exercise by the Revolutionary Guards. Simultaneously, the government decided not to entrust the completion of the Tehran highways to Khatam al-Anbia (an Iranian engineering firm controlled by Revolutionary Guards).

Under the presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran had become a major power in the missile launch sector. The predictable conflict between the new president and the Revolutionary Guards has just begun.

Speaking to the Fars news agency, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, pointed out that, despite appearances, the current friendliness of the United States vis-à-vis Iran will not alter their plans to overthrow the regime founded by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
