‘Israelis damage Palestinians’ vehicles’

“Five vehicles were vandalized close to the Old City at the entrance to the Silwan neighborhood, and the slogan ‘price tag’ written on a wall nearby,” said spokeswoman Luba Samri on Tuesday.

Israeli extremists regularly carry out “Price tag” attacks, targeting Palestinian properties, cars, mosques and olive trees. The perpetrators are rarely caught by Israeli security forces.

On Monday, four Israelis were reportedly arrested for being involved in the smashing of tombstones in the Greek Orthodox cemetery.

Reports also said that two Israeli teens damaged eight Palestinian-owned cars on Sunday in the Shimon Hatzaddik neighborhood in Al-Quds.

The presence and continued expansion of Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territories has created a major obstacle for the efforts to establish peace in the Middle East.

More than half a million Israelis live in over 120 illegal settlements built since Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds in 1967.

The United Nations and most countries regard the Israeli settlements as illegal because the territories were captured by Israel in a war in 1967 and are hence subject to the Geneva Conventions, which forbids construction on occupied lands.
