Archbishop Theodosius Atallah Hanna on Thursday condemned the “organized terrorism” in Damascus after a car bomb shook the Syrian capital, killing 53 people.
“This criminal act is added to the series of other criminal acts targeting the Syrian state,” the Jerusalem archbishop said in a statement, adding that the perpetrators sought to unravel talks to resolve the Syrian crisis.
He said the Syrian people must respond by speeding up national reconciliation and dialogue to end violence in the country.
The Orthodox archbishop described events in Syria as vandalism and said it was clear they had “nothing to do with democracy and human rights.”
