Jerusalemite ordered to demolish his house

Days of Palestine, Jerusalem -Israeli authorities obliged on Wednesday Palestinian resident of Jerusalem to demolish parts of his house located in Beit Hanina Neighbourhood.

Shireen al-Sidawi was obliged to carry out the Israeli order to demolish parts of his home in order to avoid paying the high demolition costs for the Israeli municipality of Jerusalem.

For an emergent need, Al-Sidawi recently added and extension to his house after he had lost hope to get the needed permission for the Israeli occupation municipality.

Recounting what happened to her, Al-Sidawi said: “The Israeli occupation forces came in the early morning with the demolition order in their hands. They demanded that I shall demolish the extension or I shall pay for the municipality to demolish it.”

Knowing that the Israeli occupation would earn high amount of money, based on previous examples, she decided, with the help of her neighbours, to demolish it by her own.

The Israeli rights group B’Tselem said that 579 homes had been destroyed in the city over the last twelve years, leaving 2,133 Palestinians homeless in total.
