Former prime minister John Howard has returned to the federal parliament’s Liberal party room for the unveiling of the portraits of some of his successors.
The party room now displays portraits of all past Liberal leaders following the addition of images of Malcolm Turnbull and current Opposition Leader Tony Abbott.
Unlike Labor, the Liberal Party traditionally has not been strong on recognising its heritage. The party is moving to redress that, reframing portraits of leaders displayed in the party room and adding detailed information plaques.
