Mr Shabazz was jailed for four years as minor, the first of a string of
convictions he would wrack up. He was later jailed again for robbery and
arrested for punching out the window of a donut shop.
He claimed to have been arrested in February 2013 while en route to Iran,
although that account has not been confirmed.
Mr Shabazz has at least one daughter, Mashallah, and claims on his website to
be in the process of writing two books.
His mother, Qubilah, was the daughter of Malcolm X and as a four-year-old
witnessed him murdered in 1965 by gunmen from the Nation of Islam.
She later pleaded guilty to plotting to assassinate Louis Farrakhan, the
leader of the Nation of Islam.
