Man charged in Sydney gun, gang crackdown

A man has been charged with drug and weapons offences in south Sydney.

The 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with numerous offences after police found a small amount of methylamphetamine and a bullet-proof vest at a house on Evans Street in San Souci on Saturday.

The man allegedly tried to dispose of further drugs in the presence of police.

He has been refused bail and will face Parramatta court on Saturday.

Police say the arrest was part of Operation Spartan, which was founded in January to investigate gun crime and criminal gangs across Sydney.

Anyone with information that might assist police with Operation Spartan is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
