A Maserati convertible and a rare 1960s British car have been destroyed after a car transporter caught fire on the NSW mid-north coast.
Traffic was brought to a standstill shortly before 2pm (AEDT) when the northbound truck ignited on the Pacific Highway at Bulahdelah.
It was another hour before one lane was opened, and traffic did not flow on the other lanes until 6pm, Transport Management Centre spokeswoman Bronwyn Martin said.
An Italian-built Maserati Spyder convertible and a rare 1960s British-designed Hillman Super Minx sedan were on the truck’s upper deck.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
