Rabbi Leib Glanz
Manhattan Judge Kevin Castel sentenced Menashe Glanz, 51, to six months jail and another six months under home confinement, plus a $3,000 fine, in order to send a message to other would-be thieves. Glanz has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $200,000 in federal rent subsidies.
Menashe Glanz is the brother of former city jails chaplain Rabbi Leib Glanz. The rabbi was disgraced after organizing a Bar Mitzvah party in jail. He had also arranged an engagement party and smuggled in snacks and movies for Jewish inmates to watch.
