With just days to go until the first round of the French presidential election, one policeman has been killed and another wounded in a shooting incident on the Champs-Elysees in Paris, the French police said. The person who fired on police on the Champs-Elysees, one of the world’s most prestigious boulevards, was allegedly armed with a Kalashinkov rifle and has been killed.
A Reuters reporter saw a helicopter flying low over central Paris, apparently part of a follow-up police operation.
