“We have transferred the officer in charge for his failure to execute his
police duties properly,” said Shah. “He is supposed to maintain
law and order.”
In 2009, Kathmandu
ran out of goats to sacrifice just days before the country’s biggest
religious festival, the Hindu festival of Dashain to appease the goddess of
power, Durga.
The government was forced to send officials into the countryside to look for
animals to help ease the shortage in Kathmandu.
