On January 11 the Writers Guild of America announced its Writers Guild Award nominations, including those for the category New Media, which covers free to watch online content. Among this year’s candidates are Mortal Kombat: Web Series and Downsized.
2012 marks the second year in which the Writers Guild Awards (WGA) will honor writing in the category New Media, which includes content “first exhibited on a new media platform,” defined by the WGA as “the internet, mobile devices, and any other established new media platform,” between December 1, 2010 and November 30, 2011.
Winners will be announced in simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York on February 19.
