A new tourist route will be will now be determined that will include stops taking in the works of the great Ottoman architect, Mimar Sinan.
The Istanbul Cultural and Tourism Directorate, along with the Touring and Automobile club of Turkey and Istanbul Tourist Guides Chamber has provided workshops and education seminars, educating 80 licenced tour guides on the works of Mimar Sinan as part of the “New Tourism Route, Grand Master Architest Mimar Sinan Project”.
As part of the Istanbul Development Angecy, the project will be part of a new route that will be offered to domestic and tour packages to tourists. The final phase of training will include a trip to the Selimiye mosque in the city of Edirne.
Dr Sinan Genim, one of the architects of the new project, said that Turkey didn’t just encapsulate sun, sand and sea but the new route will also include new historical sites as part of the tourism route. Dr Genim, said:
“Mimar Sinan is one of the best architects in the history of the world. We have not been able to give him proper credit, either through understanding or through introducing him to the modern world. We have done so much for our architecture but the impact on our culture and art we still need to understand. Turkey is undergoing a new phase in tourism, and so we need to show the new routes that are part of our culture. This is one of the first conscious routes that is part of the new conscious tourism for Turkey”.
