A pilot flying a patient to a central Queensland hospital was forced to use night-vision goggles to make an emergency landing after his helicopter experienced mechanical problems.
The EMQ helicopter was transferring the patient from the Bundaberg hospital to the Royal Brisbane Hospital when trouble struck early on Tuesday.
Lights on the chopper’s dashboard came on, indicating mechanical failure.
The pilot was forced to use night-vision goggles to land in the dark on the Cooroy football club’s oval about 1.15am (AEST) on Tuesday.
The patient was transferred to another helicopter.
No one was injured in the incident.
