With spring break underway for those lucky enough to escape reality for a week, bathing suits are on the brain. Bathing suit shopping can prove dreadful and uncomfortable. However, wearing on-trend designs can boost self-esteem. Take note from fashion’s top designers.
The Spring 2013 runway exploded with interesting yet classic bathing suit trends – stripes, bright colors, cutouts and floral.
Stripes are a staple. Although never forgotten, they are back on the scene – in a big way. American sportswear designer, Micheal Kors, debuted a cutout, red and green striped suit that is truly a wardrobe investment, wearable season after season.
The king of brights, Missoni included a mini-chevron printed one piece in the Spring 2013 collection. As always, Mara Hoffman’s bright suits were electronic and patterned – true head turners. Ever-outrageous Betsey Johnson sent colorful floral suits down the runway.
Rachel Comey made cutout looks suitable for any figure, creating an illusion using dark shades and thick fabric. Best known for hip hugging, body-conscious looks, Herve Leger by max Azria bathing suits are no different. For those with little to hide, take note from Herve Leger’s extreme cutouts. Again, black is helpful in concealing flaws.
While it’s important to consider trends while bathing suit shopping, the number one rule: dress for your body and you will always remain confident.
