FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda US President Barack Obama is seeking to allay Germany’s espionage concern during his phone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Obama on Tuesday pledged to work to improve bilateral relations after Washington’s spying on its European ally worried Berlin.
Obama and Merkel “exchanged views on US-German intelligence cooperation”, the White House said, adding that the rest of the call focused on Ukraine and Iran.
The phone call comes amid recent strains in an espionage dispute that reached a new low when Germany expelled CIA station chief in Berlin.
According to German government spokesman Steffen Seibert, the move was in response to two reported cases of suspected US spying in Germany and the ongoing argument over reported NSA spying in the country.
On July 9, German police officers raided properties in a Berlin area on “initial suspicion of activity for an intelligence agency.” German media reported that an individual being investigated was a soldier in the German army who had aroused the suspicion of the country’s military counter-intelligence agency because of his close contacts with US spies.
A week earlier, an employee of Germany’s BND was arrested on charges of spying for the US over a period of years.
The latest espionage cases come as a German parliamentary inquiry is currently being held to assess the extent of spying by the US National Security Agency (NSA) and its partners on Germans, and whether German intelligence aided the activities.
Public outrage has built up in the country ever since former NSA contractor Edward Snowden revealed last year that the US had eavesdropped on Merkel’s cellphone calls.
The White House has refused to address the issue publicly. Instead it has maintained that the matters were standard intelligence procedures.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest has said that countries like Germany know that other nations spy, and has suggested Germany should stop litigating the dispute in the media
