Occupation arrests 25 Pals, extends detention of 5 boys

Days of Palestine, West Bank -Israeli forces arrested on Monday overnight at least 25 Palestinians in raids across occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Palestinian security sources and rights groups said the Israeli occupation forces raided homes, searched them and arrested the Palestinians.

An Israeli army spokesperson told confirmed the arrests, claiming that all of them were arrested over taking part in illegal activities against the “state of Israel.” The spokesperson said that one is a Hamas member.

Meanwhile, an Israeli court decided to extend the detention of five Palestinian minors from occupied East Jerusalem.

Lawyer Mohamed Mahmoud said that the court also extended the detention of the five boys from Al-Tur Neighbourhood to next Thursday over charges of throwing stones at the illegal Israeli settlement of Beit Orot.

The lawyer revealed that the youths were assaulted by Israeli undercover forces when they were arrested on Friday, and that at least two of them, Siraj and Basim, had visible bruising on their bodies.

According to the Israeli Prison Service (IPS), as of 31 January 2016, there were 7,766 Palestinians, from the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.

Military Court Watch said that 423 Palestinian children are included in this number, noting that most of the prisoners are being held in Israeli facilities in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention.
