‘P5+1 must alter confrontational policy’

“Our suggestion to the P5+1 is that they shift their policy of confrontation toward the Islamic Republic to one of collaboration,” said Chairman of Iran’s Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy Alaeddin Boroujerdi on Saturday.

“This shift in policy will be beneficial to them because they have not gained anything through confrontation with Iran,” he added.

He also lauded Iran’s great progress in the field of nuclear energy and emphasized that the era of confrontation with Tehran has come to an end.

The Iranian nation will proceed with its peaceful nuclear activities, the lawmaker stated, adding that the world will soon witness that even “the arrogant countries led by the US will accept the reality of Iran’s nuclear progress and its membership in the nuclear club.”

Iran and the P5+1 – Russia, China, France, Britain, the US and Germany – are scheduled to resume their multifaceted talks on April 13. However, the venue of the negotiations is still under discussion.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany have held two rounds of multifaceted talks, one in Geneva in December 2010 and another in the Turkish city of Istanbul in January 2011.

Iran says it is ready to resume the talks based on common grounds; however, it has repeatedly made clear that it will not compromise on any of its rights.
