“We are working on arrangements to bring the bodies to Jenin,” Talal Dweikat told Ma’an.

The bus, carrying Palestinian pilgrims who performed the Umrah pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, overturned on the Dead Sea road, according to the Amman-based daily al-Ghad.

The director of al-Shuna al-Janubiyya Hospital told al-Ghad that 15 people were killed in the accident and 30 sustained injuries. Twenty-five injured have been transferred to hospitals in Amman, he said noting that five are in critical condition.

The newspaper quoted sources in Jordan’s Public Security Directorate as saying that a bus collided with a truck and a small car before it turned over. The truck driver was also killed in the accident.

Earlier, Palestinian religious affairs minister Mahmoud al-Habbash confirmed that a bus carrying pilgrims overturned en route to Jordan’s King Hussein Bridge crossing.

“We are contacting Jordanian officials for specific details,” he said.
