Palm Island Mayor Alf Lacey has been re-elected, shrugging off allegations of breaching alcohol restrictions.
Mr Lacey was a passenger in a tinny allegedly loaded with sly grog stopped by police at Forrest Beach, north of Townsville, on January 30.
No-one was charged over the incident but two councillors resigned in protest and the council was almost forced into the hands of administrators.
However, the incident has done little to dent his popularity, and with 61 per cent of the vote counted, Mr Lacey had gained nearly 47 per cent of the vote, with his nearest rival Raymond Sibley on 18 per cent.
