Some of the best apps out there, I think, are pretty much pointless but still seem kind of fun to mess around with. PicFrame is definitely one of those. Its purpose is to allow you to make a montage of sorts with the photos on your phone by putting multiple pictures next to each other in frames in a single picture.
If you know what you’re doing, this can be quite pleasing, but most of us are not visual artists. That means that the majority of the output from PicFrame will not be all that impressive, but that’s OK. Sometimes it’s nice to be able to just put a bunch of photos into one picture. And PicFrame certainly does that well.
PicFrame seems pretty simple, and it is. There are few options here, but you don’t need many. You can choose from dozens of frames that allow you to add up to five photos. You can move the photos around within the frames, and you can pinch to zoom. You can make the corners of the frames rounded, and you can change the color of the frame as well. Also, you can change the width of the frames, or even eliminate the borders all together. That’s all it does, but do you really think it needs to more complicated than that?
All in all, PicFrame is pretty cute, and it does what it claims to do. I can’t say how often most people are gonna find they really need to use it, but oh well. It’s always good for a laugh, at least, and it’s been working that way for me so far.
