SANTA BARBRA, Ca. (INTELLIHUB) — 22-year-old,  Elliot Rodger, who being treated by multiple therapists for mental issues, open-fired on a crown of people in a local University of California Santa Barbra neighborhood late Friday night, fatally killing 6 people, reports say.

Rodger, who posted a video on YouTube Friday detailing his intentions, pulled up to a crowd of people at around 9:30 p.m. Friday night, then,  like a madman, just started firing a semiautomatic handgun madly into a crowd of onlookers, in what authorities are calling a premeditated act of mass murder.

The suspect was later found by police to be dead in his car after a police chase ended with a gunshot wound to the suspects head. It is unknown at this time if the gunman took his own life.

ABC News reported the following:

In the video, a man who identifies himself as Elliot Rodger sits in the driver’s seat of a car as he promises “retribution” and discusses his “loneliness, rejection and unfulfilled desires.”

“Girls gave their affection and sex and love to other men but never to me,” he says. He adds that it’ll be his last video.

Police haven’t confirmed whether the person who posted the video or the man in it is the suspect.

“We’re investigating that as evidence that we believe is connected to this crime,” said Brown.

The victims’ identities were not immediately released. Brown said the injured were being treated for gunshot wounds and traumatic injuries, including at least one person who underwent surgery for life-threatening injuries.

Seven more people were also reported to have been hospitalized at this time.

An except from a CNN report titled 7 dead in California shooting rampage called ‘premeditated mass murder’, reads:

The shootings occurred in Isla Vista near the University of California, Santa Barbara, in a crowded area bustling with activity on Memorial Day weekend.

“I don’t recall hearing any screaming,” witness Robert Johnson told CNN, describing the moment the gunman opened fire on people outside a deli. “It was at that point where I turned and ran in the opposite direction. … There’s a lot of confusion. Even shortly after this whole ordeal had ended, I think a lot of people didn’t realize the magnitude of the situation.”

The violence began and ended within minutes, from 9:27 p.m. when shots were reported to around 10 minutes later when police discovered the body of the suspected gunman, CNN affiliate KEYT-TV said. Authorities said there were nine separate crime scenes.

Police say that there are 9 different crime scenes involved in this particular crime.

Others such has Montagraph have chimed in on the subject as well. “I  just saw one of the strangest videos I have ever seen in my entire life on YouTube. And since I have been on YouTube I have probably watched 70,000 videos”, said Montagraph, referring to the Rodgers video which was posted on May 23.

“He is sitting there talking to the public, and telling them exactly what he is going to do”, Montagraph continued.
