The lawyer and human rights activist Eloisa Samy, is currently at the Uruguayan National Consulate in Rio de Janeiro, where she is seeking political asylum to defend herself at liberty from the accusations she has received from a prosecutor.
We are currently at the location, where 10 military police motorcycles and a few vehicles have surrounded the area. We ask for the support of human rights activists and social movement organizations to guarantee the legality that has been threatened by a politically orchestrated process against activists in Rio.

Eloisa Samy is a lawyer and member of the OAB/RJ (Organization of Brazilian Lawyers of Rio de Janeiro), she has a specialization in civil law from the Estácio de Sá University and has been a militant activist on the streets, fighting for social movements to be able to organize freely. She was present at many protests in Rio de Janeiro, where she worked to prevent protesters from being arbitrarily arrested.
Samy was arrested on the 12th of June on temporary detention warrants and was granted license by the judge Siro Darlan and released on habeas corpus on July 15th. However, last Sunday a case prosecutor announced Samy`s arrest.
