It is too early in the investigation to draw conclusions, but several pieces of information have emerged:
- Dark skinned person wearing black back pack and black sweat shirt speaking a foreign language attempted to breach a secured area
- Security film shows a person distributing black backpacks at the scene
- Saudi man on student visa in hospital under police guard as a person of interest
- Apartment searched in Revere Apartment building
Standing out is the 20-year old Saudi man. The NY Post said the man was injured at the scene and required medical attention or burns. Another report said that he was actually tackled by police before being transported to the hospital.
Surely, the evidence and sources of evidence will make clear who is responsible sooner than later.
Hopefully, greater attention will be given to securing future events.
CNN reported this morning that the Saudi student’s apartment was searched, and nothing suspicious was found.

By Paul ScicchitanoAuthorities in Boston are guarding a 20-year-old Saudi man in Monday’s horrifying bombing attack at the Boston Marathon, reports The New York Post.
The man, who has not been formally charged in what the White House has now deemed “an act of terror,” is being described as a person of interest, according to Fox News, which said that it was still unclear to authorities as to whether the man was a victim or perpetrator.
According to the network, the man had suffered severe burns and was being guarded at an area hospital as the FBI continued to analyze video from several area surveillance cameras.
Citing a report from CBS News, The Post also said that Boston police have surveillance video of someone transporting multiple backpacks to the site of the explosions near the finish line of the race.
