On Sunday, Feb. 24, the 85th Annual Academy Awards will recognize the best of the best from the movies of 2012.
The Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, are Hollywood’s time to shine each year. At the official Oscars website, you can choose your picks for best actor, actress, picture and much more, including many categories of technical awards.
If you’re hosting an Oscars party, you still have time to whip up some great appetizers. Pinterest can help with recipes galore.
Pinterest is a website where you can find recipes, home and craft ideas, information about great new products and much more.
When you find a picture of something you like, called a pin, add it to an existing pin board or make a new one. Click on the pin to be directed to the website associated with the pin.
For recipe pins, you will be directed to a website with the instructions to make the food. You might decide to make a simple vegetarian curry, courtesy of Babble.com, to support “The Life of Pi” as Best Picture or one of the other 10 awards for which the film was nominated.
The same website also offers dog bone breadsticks to support “Halloweenie,” a kid’s movie nominated for Best Animated Picture, crusty French baguettes to support “Les Miserables” for Best Picture or one of seven other awards, classic gingerbread cookies to support “Lincoln” for one or more of the 12 nominations the film received, and many other recipes.
Some people chose a black and white foods theme for their Oscars party foods to celebrate the formal nature of the Academy Awards.
Others keep it more simple with cheese, fruit, bread and a variety of fine wines. One pin features breadsticks shaped like Academy Awards served with caviar.
You will find many cocktail recipes for the adults and mocktails for the younger set on Pinterest. There are even ideas for using the leftovers from your Oscars party.
You may decide to add some of your favorite simple appetizers to the mix or start with all new ideas. But don’t let time get away from you.
Live streaming for the Oscars begins at 7 p.m. EST with the pre-show red carpet coverage on ABC, followed by the Academy Awards, starting at 8:30 p.m.
The show lasts for three hours so you’ll certainly want more than a bag of chips and some dip. Head over to Pinterest, type “Oscars party foods” or “Oscars recipes” and you’ll find more ideas than you’ll have time to make.
