“All countries should speak about the global problems through their active presence and through a single voice,” President Rouhani said during the meeting.
Rouhani pointed to the international and regional developments, and said, “Today the human society is facing major problems such as terrorism, hence, everyone is required to cooperate in removing those problems.”
President Rouhani also commented on the current situation in the Middle East, specially in Palestine and Gaza, and said, “Israel’s siege of Gaza has denied Palestinians access to medicine and foodstuff.”
The Iranian president strongly criticized the indifference of the world countries to the slaughter of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and said, “If today we remain indifferent to the sadness of others, we will face the same situation in the future and we should not expect others to share our grief then.”
President Rouhani also pointed to Iran-Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, France and Britain plus Germany), and said, “We believe that negotiation is the only way ahead of us and we are hopeful about the success of the negotiations and we are ready to cooperate (with the opposite side) but only within the framework of the international law.”
Yet, the Iranian president reiterated that access to the civilian nuclear technology is the least expected by the Iranian nation from the talks.
Iceland’s ambassador, for his part, pointed to the status quo in his country’s relations with Iran, and said, “Although Iran and Iceland are far from each other, Iceland pays a lot of attention to Iran and its achievements and it is looking for the further consolidation of mutual cooperation with Tehran in the international arena.”
