When a tiny badger cub was found abandoned and completely helpless it didn’t look like she would survive.

With her umbilical cord still attached and weighing just 100 grams, any longer on her own and she would have died.

But now the tiny black and white critter has been nursed back to help and has been aptly named Hope.

Staff at Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre, in Somerset, feed the baby badger through a syringe every two hours around the clock.

It is believed Hope’s mum gave birth in a nearby set before taking her offspring into a summerhouse in Crewkerne, Somerset.

Another injured badger was found next to her but it is not believed she was her real mother.

Mum Kaye James raised the alarm when she went to the summerhouse to collect the feed for her chickens. She said: ‘The seed was scattered all over the place and there sticking out from behind our sofa was a long grey tail.’

Secret World has recently launched a £4.4 million Call of the Wild Appeal for a new Wildlife Animal Hospital at the sanctuary.

Author Sir Terry Pratchet helped start the appeal after being wowed by the centre’s selfless work.

Why do people get so angry abusive to each other.I love animals find this a pleasant story. The Sanctuary are paying for this little mites care so no one is being asked to contribute.
OK some people seem to hate animals, that is their choice so they need not worry about funding animal charities.
Why why why though do you all have to go for each others throats about a tiny defenceless animal. Just all calm down go calmly about your business.
Shows though how much aggression humans are choking on.

I think Job Swerth, Southall Middx belongs to the same club as “Red Arrow” Ralph from Bremen. They both have the same jaded view on life. Mind you, I’m not surprised living in Southall.

A badger will not bite you or trouble you, if you leave it alone. I often came across groups of badgers on my walks, and they run the other way, as most wild animals will do when faced with man.

If you can’t care for animals – wild or domestic – then what are you likely to do to your fellow human beings? Animals and humans are all part of the natural world, but many of us – judging by some of the comments left so far – seem to have forgotten this.

Tens of millions of small creatures born every day and dying shortly afterwards. What’s the big deal about this one ?

two letters TB.

I will finish with this observation to all my detractors. Animals certainly bring out the worst in people, such venom, I hope you are proud of your selves. Relax or you will get high blood pressure. I will not report you to get your posts removed, be cool people!

Haha your comment made me laugh, I’m surprised it was allow to be posted? Lol:)

@ jobs werth
I bet they wouldn’t cause as much damage to my car as you when I catch you crossing the road in Southall. Especially when I reverse over you twice and leave your lifeless body in the gutter.
Roadkill

And who is paying for all this?
