South Africa president to be sworn in

South African President Jacob Zuma is to be sworn in for a second five-year presidential term, days after being elected by the parliament.

Zuma will take oath on Saturday, during an inauguration ceremony in the South Africa city of Pretoria.

Over 4,000 people including neighboring heads of state, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni will attend the ceremony.

Officials from 47 different countries are also expected to be present during the inauguration ceremony.

Zuma is expected to announce his cabinet on Sunday, May 25.

The South African president was officially elected by the parliament as president for a second five-year term on May 21.

Zuma’s African National Congress party (ANC) won in parliamentary elections on May 7, but it has been under fire for rising poverty and unemployment rates in the country.

The South African president has vowed to work to improve transportation, energy, education, and healthcare sectors.

Zuma has been widely expected to appoint a technocrat cabinet for his next term in office in a bid to stimulate the economy and deal with the 25-percent unemployment rate.
