FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda South Korean President Park Geun-Hye has reshuffled her cabinet in an effort to win back public support following her administration’s poor handling of a ferry sinking tragedy.
On Friday, Park replaced seven cabinet ministers, including those of finance, security, education and labor while appointing six new ministers.
The cabinet shake-up is President Park’s first major shuffle since taking office in 2013.
The development comes after her ruling conservative Saenuri Party made a rather strong showing in local elections last Thursday, winning eight of 17 main electoral races for city mayors and provincial governors, despite criticism over the ferry tragedy. Following the election victories, Park nominated a new prime minister on Tuesday to replace Chung Hong-won, who resigned amid fierce criticism of the government’s handling of the ferry tragedy.
The South Korean president also replaced her defense minister as well as the director of the country’s state intelligence agency.
The passenger ship, Sewol, capsized off South Korea’s southern coast on April 16 while carrying 476 people, out of which 325 were students from a high school in the city of Ansan, just south of the capital, Seoul.
Only 172 passengers were rescued following the disaster. Rescue teams have so far recovered 289 dead bodies, while the rest are still missing.
Park’s administration had already dismantled the country’s coastguard and ordered a major overhaul of national safety standards and procedures.
South Korean authorities have also intensified efforts to hunt down the people believed responsible for the ferry disaster.
The country’s police forces on Friday arrested the brother of fugitive billionaire Yoo Byung-eun, who owns the firm that operated the sunken ferry.
Thousands of officers dressed in riot gear had earlier raided a religious compound in Anseong city, in search of Yoo, who remains at large.
