Adelaide’s thinker-in-residence investigating the live music scene said it would not be hard to kick-start a revival.
Martin Elbourne was a booking agent for the UK’s Glastonbury Festival and is a consultant on festivals and events in several countries.
He said there was a wealth of Adelaide-grown international talent which could be drawn on for support.
“There’s some really good Adelaide people out in the world, in important jobs in the music industry, who actually would love to see Adelaide bands succeed, so it’s [about] tapping into those resources, finding out when they come back home and getting them to do a workshop thing in the evening for the local industry,” he said.
“That’s not expensive, that’s cheap to do, it’s actually easy to do, it’s just that no one’s been doing it.”
A panel discussion on Friday afternoon at the University of Adelaide will consider the future for the live music scene.
