A taxi driver has been charged with the hit-and-run killing of Sydney man Andrew Heffernan.
Mr Heffernan died about 1am (AEST) on Saturday after being hit by a vehicle outside Castle Towers shopping centre in Castle Hill, northwest Sydney.
The 23-year-old, from nearby Glenhaven, was returning home from a night out with his mates when the accident occurred.
On Monday night a 39-year-old taxi driver was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, failing to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death, and negligent driving causing death.
The man’s taxi was seized from his home in Glenwood on Sunday and underwent forensic examination.
Detectives spoke to the driver briefly on Sunday and formally interviewed him on Monday night.
He was bailed to appear at Parramatta Local Court on June 18.
