A police chase in North Queensland ended this morning with a car crashing into the Ingham police station.
The pursuit began about 4.30am when police allegedly observed a sedan crossing the road’s middle double lines before accelerating off.
The officers stopped chasing the car soon after and returned to the police station only to find the same car smashed into the Palm Terrace building’s front brick wall.
The 19-year-old driver of the car was arrested at the scene and allegedly recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.127 per cent a short time after.
He was charged with eight offences including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, drink driving (mid-range), failure to wear a seatbelt, failure to stop and disobeying the speed limit.
He is due to appear before the Ingham Magistrates Court on January 12, 2012.
