The threat posed of a bushfire near South Australia’s coast has reduced, but residents are being warned of falling trees and poor visibility from smoke.
An emergency warning was issued for Woolundunga, near SA’s southeast coast, on Thursday night, with the County Fire Service (CFS) warning people that it is burning out of control at Gunyah Road.
The shrub fire posed risk to lives and homes, the CFS said.
At 10.30pm the CFS advised the risk posed by the blaze near Gunyah Road and Wilmington Road had reduced.
But they urged residents to be aware of poor visibility and falling trees.
“You should check your property for any fires and embers – particularly in roof spaces, under decks, raised floors and in gutters,” CFS said.
“You should take care in the fire area over the next few days.”
